How to Make Audio Sound
This is an Important Factor in the Sound of the Device’s Audio:
- If there is an AMI, connect the AMI audio cable preferentially
- If no AMI exists but AUX exists, connect the AUX audio cable
- If there is no AMI or AUX, connect the audio input and output cables above the ISO directly.
Note:
If your OEM interface does not have a secondary menu, you need to activate the secondary menu of the original interface (only for NTG3.0). The activation steps are as follows:
Open Settings > Factory > Vehicle > Auxiliary activation > Automatic restart, open original AUX activation > enter the interface of original car, open the multimedia menu, check whether AUX menu is displayed.

The hardware is top-tier and the wireless Android Auto is the best I’ve used. I’m only dropping one star because the audio levels between the original Mercedes radio and the Android side needed quite a bit of tweaking in the ‘Factory Settings’ menu to get them to match. Also, the built-in mic is just okay—I suggest setting your phone to stay paired with the original Mercedes Bluetooth for calls while using the screen for everything else. Otherwise, a fantastic upgrade.

The W221 is still one of the best rides on the road, but the old nav was useless. This DRIKSWVE unit with the Snapdragon 665 is a revelation. It fits perfectly into the dash binnacle and the 1920×720 resolution is stunning. Wireless CarPlay starts up immediately. It makes my 2010 S550 feel like a brand-new vehicle. If you own a W221, don’t settle for the cheaper chips—get this 8-core version.

Works perfectly with the COMAND wheel
love that I can control CarPlay using the original silver rotary dial. I don’t even have to reach forward to touch the screen. All my steering wheel buttons work for volume and skipping tracks. It’s the perfect blend of 2026 tech and 2010 luxury. Highly recommended for any S-Class owner.

Integration is 10/10
I was terrified of losing my massage seat controls and suspension settings, but this unit keeps the original NTG 3.5 system fully intact. You just toggle between the Benz menu and Android 13 with the ‘Return’ button. The Snapdragon chip is buttery smooth, and the audio quality through the Harman Kardon system remains crystal clear. Best investment I’ve made.

The screen is bright, crisp, and has a great anti-glare coating. Running Google Maps and Apple Music in split-screen mode is effortless for this processor. It doesn’t overheat, and the touch response is iPad-level fast. The W221 dash looks updated but not ‘tacky’—it looks like a factory wide-screen upgrade.

Great tech, but the W221 install is a project
“The screen and software are 5-star quality. The Snapdragon 665 is incredibly fast. However, giving it 4 stars because the installation in the S-Class is much more involved than an A or C-Class. You have to remove a lot of wood trim and the center vent assembly, which can be nerve-wracking. Make sure you have a set of plastic pry tools and plenty of time. Once it’s in, it’s flawless, but it’s a ‘pro-level’ DIY job.”

High-end hardware for a high-end car
This isn’t your average cheap head unit. The Android 13 build is stable, and the Snapdragon 665 handles high-bitrate audio and 4K video playback (when parked) without a hiccup. The GPS signal is strong and the wireless connection is rock solid. DRIKSWVE really nailed the W221 fitment.
